Breaking Down Movies Brick By brick

The brick movie review will serve as a guide for both casual and serious film movie aficionados. This is a site where a viewer can gain perspective, views, opinions from a long-term film lover about newly released theatrical films. This is not a site which measures audience and other critics reviews like Rotten Tomatoes.

Meet Roland Carey

Ever since I was a little kid I remember being fascinated by movies. Star Wars, Jaws, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Animal House are a few which stood out for me. It didn’t matter if it was Sci Fi, Adventure, Fantasy, Drama, or a Mystery Thriller, I just remember from a young age I really enjoyed watching movies and started to develop a penchant for remembering movie lines and scenes, probably because I watched them repeatedly over time to stay in touch with them.

People ask me all the time what are your favorite movies? Of course, like many folks I have my favorites. The Godfather, Fargo, Shawshank Redemption would be in my top 10. However, I think there would also be a few surprises to round out the list. I remember the first time I saw a movie that totally mesmerized me, it was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.  I remember feeling total wonder,  joy and excitement. The imagination of Roald Dahl brought to life in a major theatrical release was pure magic. Everybody remembers the boat scene. Gene Wilder killed it in that movie and should have received an Oscar nomination for best actor, he did however receive a Golden Globe nomination for best performance.

This of course is my opinion. Speaking of my opinion, welcome to the brick movie review. This is a site I used to review movies in the late 1990s. 30+ years later I am still a huge fan of movies and I am now resurrecting the site.I still enjoy the cinematic experience on the big screen for newly released films and so I will focus my efforts on those for the time being but the site will adapt and evolve over time.

Welcome to the site. Happy 2026
